Your files, your shell,
one window.
NexPane is a fast, native file manager for Windows with a real terminal, previews and editing, git, and a task manager built in.
Windows 10 and 11 Free for 14 days $39 once, yours for life
What's inside
A file manager that doesn't send you elsewhere.
Open a terminal, read a diff, fix a config file, find what's filling your drive. It all happens in the pane you're already in.
A real terminal, built in
Open PowerShell, Command Prompt, WSL or Git Bash right where you are. Keep them in tabs, dock them under or beside your files, and drop a file on one to paste its path.
Split panes and docking
Split any pane horizontally or vertically. Every pane has its own tabs and location, and you can drag tabs and files between them.
Preview and edit files
Preview code, images, video, PDFs, Word documents, spreadsheets, 3D models and more. Text files can be edited right in the preview, with syntax highlighting, search and undo.
Git, built in
Open a repository and changed files are marked as you browse. Click one for a side-by-side or inline diff you can edit.
- Stage, commit, push and pull
- History, branches, stashes and worktrees
- Uses the Git you already have, with your config, credentials, SSH keys and hooks
Fast search
Search a folder, a drive or every drive at once, by name or by the text inside files. Results appear as you type.
Network locations
Work with files on SFTP, FTP, WebDAV, S3 and SMB locations like any other folder, and find the devices on your network.
Space Analyzer
An interactive map of any drive, sized by disk usage and colored by file type. You can drill into folders and delete items from the map.
Task manager
See processes, performance, network connections, startup apps, services and the event log.
And plenty of smaller things.
Command palette and shortcuts: One shortcut searches every command, and any shortcut can be changed.
Undo and redo: Renames, moves, copies and deletes can all be taken back.
Picks up where you left off: Every pane and tab is back when you reopen it.
Bulk rename: Rename many files at once, with a preview first.
Themes and customization: Dark, light or your own theme, plus your choice of density and fonts.
Archives, opened like folders: Browse ZIP, 7z, RAR and TAR files and take out what you need.
Voice input: Dictate into text fields, editors and the terminal. Speech is recognized on your PC.
Ten languages: English, Español, Français, Deutsch, Português, Русский, 日本語, 简体中文, 한국어 and العربية.

Common questions
Something else? Email support@nexpane.app.
What does the lifetime license include?
Everything. One payment of $39 gets you the full app and every update we release, on all of your own PCs. There's no subscription and nothing to renew.
Personal or Business?
The app is the same. Personal is for one person buying NexPane for themselves. Business is for a company buying it for its people: $79 a seat, one for each person. The company owns its seats and can move one to someone new on its account page. See Business pricing.
What happens after the 14-day trial?
NexPane asks for a license key. We never take a card to start the trial, so nothing is ever charged automatically. Buy when you're ready, paste in your key, and everything you set up during the trial stays exactly as it was.
How many PCs can I use it on?
As many as you personally use: your desktop, your laptop, your work machine. A license is for one person, so anyone else who uses NexPane needs their own, or a Business seat. You can see and remove your activated devices any time on your account page.
Will my license keep working in the future?
Yes. It never expires, and it doesn't depend on us being around. If NexPane were ever discontinued, we would first release a final version that needs no activation at all, so the copy you have keeps working for good. That commitment is written into our Terms.
Can I use it at work?
Yes. A Personal license you paid for yourself covers your work PCs too. If your company is paying for it or reimbursing you, it needs Business seats instead. Need more than 100 seats, a quote or an invoice? Email support@nexpane.app.
What if it isn't for me?
Try it free for 14 days first. If you buy and change your mind, you have 14 days from purchase to get a full refund, no questions asked. See the refund policy.
Do I need to create an account?
No. There's nothing to sign up for. Your license key is all you need, and it's emailed to you as soon as you buy.
Does NexPane work offline?
Yes. It needs the internet to start the trial and to activate. After that it works offline, checking in about once a day when you're online. It keeps working for up to 28 days after its last check-in, and shows how many days are left as that time runs out. If it reaches the limit, it stops until you connect to the internet and select Retry. Your license is unaffected.
Who handles payment?
Checkout is run by Paddle, our reseller and merchant of record. Paddle takes the payment, handles sales tax and VAT, and emails your receipt. We never see your card details.
What data does NexPane collect?
As little as possible. The app sends no telemetry or analytics, and nothing about your files is ever sent to us. To start the trial, to activate, and to check in about once a day, it sends our license server your license key (none during the trial), your PC's name, its Windows machine ID and processor model, and an ID hashed from those three. We store the hashed ID and, for a license, your PC's name, but never the machine ID or processor model themselves. The server also sees your IP address, which we keep for a limited time, and the country and network it comes from. Update checks send your NexPane version, processor architecture and installer type, with no license key or machine ID. The privacy policy lists everything we keep, and for how long.
